I worked with John off and on for about 10 years and reading the stories about John, they describe his character to a tee. In fact, I can only say exactly the same things about him. As an engineer he was brilliant, skilful, resourceful and most of all dependable. He could not stand company politics but just wanted the job done. He was always calm even under stressful situations but occasionally, because of his in-depth engineering knowledge, he had to face customers in difficult situations which he hated. However, his explanations and solutions would help placate even a difficult customer. He always wanted to please, so that always came across at the same time and often completely diffused the whole issue. John was a true Gentle Man, always positive and ready to help all. John always taught those around him not only with his tremendous practical skills but also his immense human qualities as well. Stephanie and Katie will miss him terribly I am sure but they have years of memories, which were full of warmth from a truly honourable man.

Goodbye to a most knowledge Engineer and mighty fine bloke. From Press and Shear, through Ultimate and with Safan you showed us all how to do it properly with a gentle manner and humous smile when most of us just wanted to use a bigger hammer. Lots of love to Steph and Katie.
